About Us

The Company was originally incorporated on the 10th day of March, 1897 under the name of Kingslay Golaghat Assam Tea Company Ltd. to do the business of plantation and manufacture of tea.

The Company acquired various tea gardens and on 29th day of March 1996, the name of the Company was changed to Kothari Plantations & Industries Ltd. To add Chemical Business, a factory was established on 1st May, 1974 at Madurai in Tamil Nadu in the name of Kothari Phytochemicals International.

The said factory is export oriented and manufactures wide range of drug formulation. Subsequently, in the year 1994 another chemical company named Southern Synthetics Limited was acquired and amalgamated with this company that produces Formaldehyde and Hexamine. For expanding business of chemical, its Tea Business was demerged and the name of the Company was further changed on 8th March, 2006 to Kothari Phytochemicals & Industries Ltd. to resemble with the nature of its business activities.

Subsequently, in the year 2011 another company Claro India Ltd. that produces Industrial Resin and Formaldehyde was acquired and merged with the Company
